Brownie with Amarula Icing
This recipe is so so simple and adds such a lovely South African twist to a really great brownie recipe.
Ingredients:
250g flour
350g brown sugar
65g plain cocoa powder
1tsp baking powder
1tsp salt
250ml water
250ml vegetable oil
1tsp vanilla extract
3 tsp Amarula (optional)
For the icing:
Softened butter
Icing sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
3 tblsp Amarula
Method:
For the Brownie:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C
2. Stir in all the dry ingredients until combined.
3. Add wet ingredients and mix until combined.
4. Bake for 30 mins at 180°C
For the icing:
1. Whisk the butter and gradually add the icing sugar, tasting regularly to get the desired sweetness.
2. Add the vanilla essence
3. Gradually add the Amarula – you can adjust the quantities to suit your taste.
When the brownie has cooled, add a generous amount of icing. Serve hot with a side of Amarula!
